Stores offer classes on drinks, crafts, skin care

Sur La Table

Cooks, foodies and aspiring chefs can look forward to expanded offerings in the cooking store Sur La Table. The SouthPark mall store plans to relocate to a 6,000-square-foot space, employing more than 20 full- and part-time employees, on May 7.

Sur La Table currently has 115 stores nationwide and offers essentials to hard-to-find specialty tools and cookware. The new location will include a culinary program and will be in the Dillard’s wing.

Savory Spice Shop

Tired of the monotonous martini or Manhattan?

Learn to concoct drink basics, including simple syrups, infusions and creative rimmers, in the Mocktail Madness class 6:30-7:30 p.m. Feb. 13.

Spice Merchants also will teach three mocktail recipes, including red Thai bloody mary, orange rose water fizz and chocolate raspberry martini. Recipes, nonalcoholic tastings and a complimentary bottle of rose water will be provided. Cost: $15 per person.

Sign up for Feb. 13 and carve a stylized duck class, or Feb. 15 for working with veneer or lumber preparation. The Feb. 16 offering is turn an acorn box, and the Feb. 22 class will teach table-saw use – beyond the basics. Classes range from beginner to advanced; call for costs, times and to register.
