Firefighters from three departments needed to douse Bessemer City house fire

Three fire departments converged Saturday afternoon to take out a house fire in Bessemer City. No one was hurt, the Crowder’s Mountain Fire and Rescue Department said.

At 3:55 p.m., members from that department and the Bessemer City and Tryonota Volunteer fire departments responded to a call about a fire in the 700 block of West Virginia Ave.

The back of a ranch house was fully involved with flames, a release from the Crowder’s Mountain department said, and 20 firefighters extinguished the blaze in 20 minutes.

The house’s residents weren’t home at the time, and the fire caused about $30,000 in damages, the release said. The Gaston County Fire Investigations Task Force is investigating the cause.
