13 win music scholarships

Thirteen scholarship winners will perform at the Community School of the Arts’ 2013/2014 Merit Scholarship Winners’ Recital at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 25. The recital, free and open to the public, will be in the McGlohon Theater at Spirit Square, 345 N. College St.

Scholarships range from tuition credits to a full year of private lessons. Winners: Carolyn Gono McMahon Scholarship – Maria Sun, piano; Andrew Bradford Scholarship – Rachel Bettendorf, guitar; Mary H. (Lib) McNeely Scholarship – Tatiana Krzesicki, piano; Andrea J. Stevenson Scholarship – Kara Chen, piano; David J. Heath Memorial Scholarship – Harin Lim, violin; Neiman Marcus Scholarship – Drew Dansby, cello; Julian Price Scholarship – David Donica, violin; Sara Wyche Higgins Scholarship – Ian Wise, piano; Outstanding String Musician – Corina Donica, violin; Dzidra Reimanis Special Recognition Award – Bria Alexander, voice; Outstanding Young Musician – Angelina Ning, piano and Katherine Elizabeth Ma, cello; Charlotte Music Club Scholarship – Ryan Ma, violin.
