Snowstorm forces changes in trash, recycling pickups

Last week’s winter storm disrupted trash pickup operations in Charlotte and most other communities across the region, and that means changes in this week’s schedule for many.

In some cities and towns locally, crews were able to complete pickups Saturday and Sunday.

But the schedule is adjusted in other locations.

Here are the details:

Charlotte

Trash: Collections are on a normal schedule this week. Residents who were missed last Wednesday-Friday can leave excess trash on the street, next to their roll-out bins. That trash should be double-bagged.

Recycling: Residents who were missed last Wednesday-Friday (during an Orange Week) are being served early this week. Orange Week customers whose recyclables aren’t collected by the end of the day Thursday should call 311. Green Week customers are on a normal schedule.

Yard waste: No collections this week. Yard waste pickup resumes Monday, Feb. 24.
