CMUD says Lake Norman sewage spill contained

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Utilities said its crews quickly contained a sewage spill Sunday in Lake Norman near Cornelius.

According to CMUD, a broken wastewater pipe in the 19100 block of Peninsula Point Drive was responsible for the spill. Authorities said about 200 gallons of sewage reached the lake.

CMUD said a crew reached the spill within 30 minutes and controlled it. Authorities reported no dead fish were found in the area. Observer staff reports
