Driver, passenger killed in Gaffney wreck

Two 19-year-olds died Monday afternoon in a single-vehicle wreck in Gaffney, S.C., according to Cherokee County Coroner’s Office.

A third person was injured in the crash, which was reported about 1:45 p.m. on Darwin Road, authorities said.

The victims were identified by Coroner Dennis Fowler as Lynsey Marie Davis, of Gaffney, and Zekeius Nijae Sullivan, of Greenville, S.C. Davis was the driver and Sullivan a back-seat passenger, authorities said.

Fowler said Davis was northbound on Darwin Road in a 1995 Toyota Corolla when she entered a curve and apparently lost control of the vehicle. The car slammed into a tree.

A female passenger in the front seat suffered minor injuries, but Davis and Sullivan died at the scene, according to the coroner.
