• Although new Bobcats Gary Neal and Luke Ridnour arrived in Charlotte Friday, the trade had not yet been ruled official. Even if it had been, coach Steve Clifford said he wouldnt have played either one without them having gone through a practice. That means Neal and Ridnour are unlikely to play Saturday against the Memphis Grizzlies.
• Clifford said that while its obvious Neals 3-point shooting will create more room in the post for center Al Jefferson, he will also aid Kemba Walker with pick-and-rolls, making it harder to give help on the dribbler with another shooter spotted up.
• Clifford has been concerned all season about his teams shooting range, and the effect it has on other aspects of the offense: If you have two guys who can shoot 3s, theyre (defenders) more hesitant to come (double) and if you have three guys who can make 3s, its really tough to double.
• Ben Gordon is reportedly in negotiations with the Bobcats to buy out whats left of his contract. That would give him a chance to sign with another team in time to be on a playoff roster. The Chicago Bulls could be interested.
