Charlotte-area students win at N.C. Science and Engineering Fair

    Emily Ashkin of Providence Day School won a special award from the Society for in vitro Biology.

Forty-three Charlotte-area students were named winners in their respective school divisions at the North Carolina Science & Engineering Fair.

Elementary: Barringer Academic Center – Samuel Cutler, Minh Nguyen; Endhaven – Luke Fowler; Huntersville – Sofia Padilla Bonelli, Ethan Dickey; Metrolina Regional Scholars Academy – Alexander Lostetter, Andrew Nees; Morehead STEM Academy – Jadin Smith; Mountain Island – Ayden Gibson; River Gate – Jonathan Rehrig.

Junior: Charlotte Islamic Academy – Sida Mohamed; Crestdale Middle – Alex Mahler, Alexander Westover; E.E. Waddell – Niqim Smith; Metrolina Regional Scholars Academy – Margaret Lostetter, Stephen Lostetter, Aarushi Patil, Mihir Patwardhan, Koushik Sridhar, Jeffery Vincent; Morehead STEM Academy – Enzo Niebuhr; Queen’s Grant Community School – Sarah Beatty.

Senior: Ashbrook High – Mallory Alman, Bailey Bullock, Heta Desai, Rachel Lee, Dylan Morgan; Charlotte Islamic Academy – Minnatullah Banawan; Countryside Montessori – Annealise Schafer; Gaston Day School – Steven Allen; Graystone Day School – Sophia Hurr; Mallard Creek High – Lauren Holmes, Rohan Patel; Marie G.
