Teen shoots at intruders, is pistol-whipped

By Jim Morrill
Staff Writer

A Kannapolis teenager whose home was broken into for the second time in two weeks shot back at intruders early Sunday morning and eventually helped lead to the pair’s arrest, WCNC reported.

Chris Ludwick, 19, was was pistol-whipped with his own gun during the burglary.

The station reported that after a Feb. 7 break-in, his father gave him a .22-caliber pistol for his safety. That was the gun he used Sunday morning, though culprits grabbed it and pistol-whipped him.

Police later arrested Kristopher Garret Welch, 20, and Andrew Christopher Calamari, 21. Both were in the Cabarrus County jail under $200,000 bond each. Each faces charges for two counts of first degree burglary and felony larceny, according to WCNC.
