The number of traffic collisions has increased considerably since 8:15 a.m. across the Charlotte region, and several problems are being reported shortly before 9 a.m. Monday.
Authorities are working to clear wrecks on southbound Interstate 77 in Charlotte, on Brookshire Boulevard, on Albemarle Road, and on Providence Road near uptown.
Here is the 8:55 a.m. update:
I-77 southbound, Lake Norman area ... Congestion; traffic moving 20-30 mph from Brawley School Road (Exit 35) down to Gilead Road (Exit 23).
I-85 southbound, Cabarrus County ... Congestion; traffic moving 20-30 mph from George Liles Parkway (Exit 54) down to Mallard Creek Church Road (Exit 46).
Albemarle Road inbound ... Congestion and a wreck at Sharon Amity Road; traffic moving 10-20 mph from Lawyers Road to Sharon Amity Road.
Independence Boulevard inbound ... Congestion; traffic moving 20-25 mph from Harris Boulevard to uptown.
Providence Road inbound ... Congestion and a wreck at Cherokee Road; traffic moving 20-25 mph from the Arboretum area to Wendover Road. Traffic moving 15-25 mph from Wendover Road to uptown.
I-485 inner loop, south Mecklenburg ... Congestion; traffic moving 25-35 mph from Providence Road to I-77.
I-77 northbound, south Charlotte ... Congestion; traffic moving 25-35 mph from Carowinds Boulevard up to Clanton Road.
I-77 southbound, south Charlotte ... Collision at Trade Street, with injuries reported; moderate delays.
Johnston Road ... Congestion; traffic moving 20-30 mph northbound from the state line to I-485.
Park Road at Park South Drive ... Collision; minor delays.
West W.T. Harris Boulevard at Lakeview Road ... Collision; minor delays.
Ballantyne Commons Parkway at Colony Woods Drive ... Collision; moderate delays.
East 7th Street at Firefighter Place ... Collision; moderate delays.
Brookshire Boulevard at Hovis Road ... Collision; minor delays.
