Watauga authorities investigate deaths of man and woman in Deep Gap

Watauga County authorities are trying to determine what caused the deaths of a man and woman found in a two-story house in Deep Gap Friday.

Sheriff Len Hagaman said on Saturday that no suspects or persons of interest are being sought in connection with the deaths. He also said there’s no indication carbon monoxide was involved.

Information and forensic evidence is being processed and reviewed by the Medical Examiner’s Office.

Deputies found the man and woman in their mid to late 50s or early 60s unresponsive about 2:31 p. m. No vital signs were present.

The residence is on Wildwood Drive about two miles from the intersection with U.S. 421 South.
