Police: $41,000 worth of vases stolen from Lenoir cemetery

By Steve Lyttle

Police in Lenoir are looking for the thief or thieves who took more than $41,000 worth of bronze vases from a cemetery in the Caldwell County city.

Lenoir city employees discovered the theft Monday, saying the vases were taken from headstones at the Blue Ridge Memorial Park, in the 2000 block of Wilkesboro Boulevard.

Town officials say they counted at least 138 stolen vases.

The vases are worth $300 each, according to police.

Lenoir police ask that anyone with information in the case contact detectives at 828-757-2100 or leave information with Crime Stoppers, 828-758-8300.
