Man dies 7 months after Charlotte moped wreck

By Steve Lyttle

A man who was seriously injured in a moped wreck last summer died Tuesday, exactly seven months after he was hurt.

James Edward Potts, 63, died at Carolinas Medical Center, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police.

Potts was riding a moped in the 3800 block of Beatties Ford Road when he crashed about 8:30 p.m. last Aug. 4.

Police said Potts’ vehicle struck the right curb, and he was thrown from the vehicle onto the sidewalk. No other vehicles were involved in the wreck. Steve Lyttle
