A traffic stop led to the arrest earlier this week of two men on drug and other charges, according to the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities said Sgt. C.L. Stone of the sheriff’s office stopped a 1996 Honda Accord on Tuesday on Salisbury Road, after Stone said he discovered the license tag on the vehicle belonged to another vehicle.
Stone said he learned the driver, Michael Weston, 40, of Stony Point, did not have a valid license. Stone said he asked Weston to get out of the car and said he saw Weston try to hide a syringe.
Sgt. W.E. Line said he then found the passenger, 33-year-old Jerry Lippard III of Statesville, was in possession of cocaine, Alprazolam, Clonazepam and Xanax. Stone and Line said they found several used syringes and a plastic wrapper with what appeared to be methamphetamine residue.
Authorities said Weston was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while his license was revoked, and displaying a fictitious tag. And, they said, Lippard was charged with possession of cocaine, three counts of possession of Schedule IV drugs, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
