• Bobcats coach Steve Clifford said before the game that he has told point guard Kemba Walker that he should consider it a complete insult if hes ever pulled off the other teams point guard for defensive reasons.
Clifford was asked if he would consider guarding Cleveland point guard Kyrie Irving with a bigger player during the fourth quarter, as the Bobcats did last season under then-coach Mike Dunlap.
• The first half was a good example of how Walker may be evolving from primarily a scorer to a more conventional point guard. He had one point, but nine assists. It was the seventh time in 12 games he has had at least eight assists.
• There were a lot of empty seats in the lower bowl for a Friday night in a game with playoff implications. Bobcats owner Michael Jordan, new father of twins, was in attendance.
• Regarding the Bobcats performance in back-to-backs this season: Theyve mostly struggled on the second night, but less so of late. They play the Grizzlies in Memphis Saturday.
