FORT MILL Seven teenagers were cited on Saturday when deputies interrupted an underage drinking party at a Fort Mill home after a neighbor claimed they heard gunshots coming from the house, authorities say.
At about 11:30 p.m. Saturday, deputies were sent to a home on Old Nation Road after a neighbor reported having heard gunfire, according to a York County Sheriffs report. A teenager told deputies that there was no gunfire, but his mother had bought him beer to drink at home. Deputies found no weapons or indications that someone had been firing a gun.
Authorities spoke with a grossly intoxicated neighbor who told deputies she heard beer bottles being broken in the roadway, the report states. The teen told police that several of his friends arrived with alcohol and marijuana. Another teen at the home told police he found beer and drank it. Deputies spoke with several other teens, who all admitted they drank some small amounts of beer.
The teens, all aged 17 and 18, were from Fort Mill, Charlotte, Waxhaw, N.C., and Monroe, N.C. All were cited for minor in possession of beer or wine, and taken home.
