Today’s traffic: Wreck slows I-485 at West Blvd.

The traffic trouble spot at 8:40 a.m. Friday is on the outer loop of Interstate 485 in west Charlotte.

That has been the biggest problem for much of the morning commute.

A collision involving a tractor-trailer was reported about 6:45 a.m. on I-485 between West Boulevard and Steele Creek Road. Travel lanes are open, but traffic is moving only 25-35 mph through the area.

There are several other collisions at this time, but the other interstate highways are not affected.

Here is the 8:40 a.m. update:

I-77 southbound, Lake Norman area ... Congestion; traffic moving 20-30 mph from Brawley School Road (Exit 35) down to Gilead Road (Exit 23).

I-85 southbound, Cabarrus County ... Congestion; traffic moving 20-30 mph from George Liles Parkway (Exit 54) down to Mallard Creek Church Road (Exit 46).

Albemarle Road inbound ... Congestion; traffic moving 15-25 mph from Lawyers Road to Sharon Amity Road.

Independence Boulevard inbound ... Congestion; traffic moving 20-25 mph from Eastway Drive to uptown.

Providence Road inbound ... Congestion and a collision at Fairview Road; traffic moving 20-25 mph from the Arboretum area to Wendover Road.

I-485 inner loop, south Mecklenburg ... Congestion; traffic moving 25-35 mph from Providence Road to I-77.

I-77 northbound, south Charlotte ... Congestion; traffic moving 25-35 mph from Carowinds Boulevard up to Clanton Road.

Johnston Road ... Congestion; traffic moving 15-25 mph northbound from the state line to I-485.

I-485 outer loop, west Charlotte ... Congestion and delays from earlier collision; heavy delays.

Weddington Road at McKee Road ... Collision; moderate delays.
