STATESVILLE A Statesville-area man has been jailed on charges of violating a domestic violence protection order, according to the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said Stafford Grant Evans, 48, was charged with violating a domestic violence protection order and possession of a firearm in violation of a domestic violence protection order.

Investigators said a woman called them March 5 and said she had been receiving text messages and phone calls from Evans. She said she had a protection order against Evans, which forbade him to contact her.

Deputies said that when they went to Evans’ house, they saw a firearm and ammunition. They said possession of those items violated the domestic violence protection order.

Deputies said Evans is being held without bond because the charges involve domestic issues. Observer Staff Reports
