ROCK HILL A Rock Hill father has been charged with drunkenly dropping his 7-week-old baby daughter on the edge of a bed frame, leaving the girl with a broken arm, broken leg and fractured ribs, according to an arrest warrant.
Bryan Wayne George, 28, of Rock Hill has been charged in connection with those injuries.
A caseworker with the York County office of the Department of Social Services called York County Sheriffs deputies at about 12 p.m. to report that a baby was admitted into Piedmont Medical Center with suspicious injuries, according to a Sheriffs Office report.
The girls mother, 22, told investigators that while she was in the shower at her home in the Catawba Indian Reservation, her daughter was lying in a bassinet. Once she got out, she heard the baby crying to the point that it scared her.
When she went into the bedroom, she found George holding the girl to calm her, the report states. The mother went to warm a bottle and later found George lying in the bed with the girl. As she entered the room, George told the mother that the girl spit up. She turned on the light and found a pool of blood on Georges chest. Once at the hospital, doctors performed X-rays and realized the girl suffered from a fractured leg and broken arm.
Deputies placed the girl and her older sister, 2, in to emergency protective custody. They were later given to DSS.
According to arrest warrants, George was "grossly intoxicated" when the girl was hurt. Once she hit the edge of the bed frame, she continued falling to the floor, the warrant states.
Deputies on Saturday charged George with unlawful neglect of a child. He is held at the York County Detention Center without bond. Sheriffs Office spokesman Trent Faris said George has been the only suspect charged in the ongoing investigation.
