Matchup to Watch

Kemba Walker vs. John Wall: The Bobcats did a good job against Wall on March 12 to win in Washington, but Wall has generally been terrific this season.

Observations

• The Wizards filled some holes with veterans Andre Miller and Drew Gooden to stay on the path to their first playoff appearance since the 2007-08 season.

• There was a major sense of urgency for the Wizards to reach the playoffs this season, with the possibility of major changes in the front office and coaching staff if that didn’t happen. Trading for Marcin Gortat from Phoenix at the season’s outset, to pick up the minutes of the injured Emeka Okafor, who was dealt in the trade, reflected that urgency.

Tap-ins

• As good as the Bobcats have been on defense, they give up a lot of 3s. Wizards guard Bradley Beal is dangerous along the 3-point line, making 41 percent of his attempts.

• The Wizards hope to get back Nene soon. The big man is recovering from a sprained medial collateral ligament in his left knee.

Did you know?

The Bobcats are 2-10 against the Southeast Division. Their only victories are against Orlando and Washington.
