The Charlotte Business Journal is relocating from South Tryon Street to NASCAR Plaza in June, its publisher said Friday.
The publication will move from the ground floor of 1100 S. Tryon St., where it has been since 2007, to the ninth floor of NASCAR Plaza. Its NASCAR Plaza space, at 7,196 square feet, will be roughly 35 percent smaller than the approximately 11,000 square feet it currently occupies.
Publisher Kevin Pitts said the move is designed, among other things, to put the publication closer to the hustle and bustle of uptown. The publication also wanted a newer, edgier location where, among other things, it can have studio space for live interviews, he said.
All 26 Charlotte Business Journal employees in its current space will move to NASCAR Plaza, Pitts said. The publication has signed a 10-year lease for the new location.
