Russian-American author at Davidson tonight

Russian-American journalist and activist Masha Gessen will speak Monday evening at Davidson College.

There is no admission charge to Gessen’s speech, scheduled for 8 p.m. in the C. Shaw Smith 900 Room on campus.

Gessen is a regular with the New York Times and National Public Radio. She is also the author of books such as “The Man Without a Face: the Unlikely Rise of Vladimir Putin” and her latest work “Words Will Break Cement: The Passion of Pussy Riot.”

Gessen moved to the United States from Russia in December, saying she feared the consequences of Russian legislation that bans “homosexual propaganda.”

A book signing will follow tonight’s talk.
