Union County boards cancel joint meeting

By Adam Bell

The often feuding Union County commissioners and school board have canceled a joint budget meeting scheduled for Thursday night.

The two boards held a joint meeting last month to start discussions on the 2014-15 budget, and had a number of disagreements over the scope and tone of the plans.

School board Chair Richard Yercheck said because the governor has not set his budget yet, the boards thought it made sense to delay their meeting for a couple weeks.

County commissioners continue to appeal a $91 million verdict in favor of the school board, which had sued over last year’s budget allocation from commissioners. Adam Bell
