The 4th Annual Pottery Fair on the Square (May 17; www.oldsalem.org) at Old Salem Museums & Gardens features more than 30 North Carolina potters presenting handmade stoneware, earthenware and folk art in a variety of styles. The event is in Salem Square in the heart of the historic Old Salem district.
Salute! The North Carolina Wine Celebration (May 31; www.salutencwine.com) celebrates North Carolina’s wine heritage with music, wine tastings, educational workshops, food and more. On Thursday and Friday prior to the festival, several downtown restaurants, chefs and winemakers come together for sumptuous Salute Winemaker Dinners. The N.C. Beer Garden is new to this year's festival.
The 10th annual Texas Pete Twin City RibFest (June 5-8; www.twincityribfest.com) fills the air with the scent of smoke and barbecue.
