Piedmont Natural Gas expands Camp Lejeune service

Piedmont Natural Gas has an agreement with the Camp Lejeune Marine Corps base for a $15 million expansion of its natural gas service.

The three-year project will build more than 55 miles of gas mains and other facilities to serve 500 structures at the base. Construction is underway and will be completed in 2016.

The buildings to be served by gas will disconnect from Lejeune’s centralized steam system, which is fueled by coal and oil. New, more energy-efficient natural gas boilers will be installed at each building.
