Woman struck, killed by vehicle in Concord

By Steve Lyttle

A 62-year-old woman was struck and killed by a vehicle while trying to cross a street Tuesday night, Concord police say.

Carmelita Little Cook, of Concord, died when she was hit while crossing Old Charlotte Road SW near Park Drive SW.

Investigators said Cook was struck by a 2012 GMC Acadia being driven by a 41-year-old woman from Cornelius. Nobody in the vehicle was injured.

Police said there are no indications whether speed or any other illegal activity contributed to the incident. Steve Lyttle
