Heavy traffic volume and congestion are causing the biggest problems for Charlotte-area motorists at 8:20 a.m. Tuesday.
There are collisions on Brookshire Boulevard, Statesville Avenue in Huntersville, Huntersville-Concord Road, and Pleasant Road in Fort Mill. But the interstate highways are clear of problems at this time.
Streets are dry in the Charlotte area, so that won’t be a problem during the morning commute. It’s a different story to the northwest of Charlotte, where heavy rain has been falling for several hours. Motorists in the Hickory and Morganton areas should allow extra travel time this morning, due to ponding on major highways.
