A Georgia man was arrested on drug charges before dawn Tuesday in Rowan County after a traffic stop, authorities say.
The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office said Alfred Benjamin Morgan, 39, of Stone Mountain, Ga., was arrested after deputies allegedly found 4 pounds of marijuana in Morgan’s car.
Investigators said deputies from Rowan and Davie counties were conducting a traffic enforcement program on Interstate 85 about 5 a.m. Tuesday when they stopped the car driven by Morgan.
Deputies said they learned that Morgan was driving without a license and had three outstanding warrants. Deputies searched his car and said they found the marijuana, which they described as “high-grade,” in the trunk. The drugs had a value of $16,000, investigators said.
Morgan was charged with possession with the intent to sell and deliver marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving with no operator’s license. He was jailed under $12,335 bond and is scheduled to make his first court appearance Thursday.
