Sen. Rand Paul coming to Charlotte Monday for Greg Brannon

U.S. Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky will visit Charlotte on Monday, a day before North Carolina’s primary, to campaign for Republican Senate candidate Greg Brannon.

Paul, a possible 2016 presidential candidate, will join Brannon at noon at the NASCAR Hall of Fame.

Like Paul, Brannon is a favorite of tea party conservatives. He’s competing with seven other GOP candidates for the right to take on Democratic Sen. Kay Hagan in November.

Most polls show Brannon trailing N.C. House Speaker Thom Tillis. Brannon has been endorsed by Paul and another tea party favorite, Republican Sen. Mike Lee of Utah. Jim Morrill
