Huntersville police and fire will host safety “Lunch and Learn” Saturday

Huntersville’s police and fire departments will host a “Safety and Security Lunch and Learn” from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Lowe’s Huntersville, 16830 Statesville Road.

Nearly 2 million home burglaries are reported every year in the U.S., and the most common method of forced entry is to kick in the door, officials say. In home fires, more people die from smoke inhalation than flames.

Saturday’s free, drop-in event will provide information about how to protect homes and loved ones. Fire and police personnel will be available for questions.

This home safety and awareness event is being held in partnership with Safe Kids of Charlotte Mecklenburg, a coalition working to reduce unintentional childhood injury. Details: www.safekidscharmeck.org, www.huntersville.org.
