Robinson Middle tops state in academic honors

Jay M. Robinson Middle School in south Charlotte logged the state’s best performance in 12 academic contests for the second year in a row.

The N.C. Association for Scholastic Activities tallies points for wins in competitions such as Quiz Bowl, Odyssey of the Mind, Mathcounts and Science Olympiad. Robinson won the N.C. School of Science and Mathematics Challenge Cup for the state’s highest total.

Hickory Ridge and J.N. Fries middle schools in Cabarrus County and Mount Mourne School in Iredell-Statesville also made the top 10. The schools will be recognized in Winston-Salem on May 12. Ann Doss Helms
