Catawba County will host a drop-in public forum 4-7 p.m. May 8 at the Sherrills Ford-Terrell Fire and Rescue Base, 4011 Slanting Bridge Road in Sherrills Ford, to receive input on what residents would like to see for the future of the N.C. 150 corridor. Those interested may drop in any time during the forum to learn more about the proposed draft of the plan and give input to county planning staff. The meeting follows an initial public forum in November seeking public input prior to the development of the plan. The corridor runs from the Catawba River to the Lincoln County line. A final draft of the plan is expected to go before the Catawba County Planning Board in late May.If the Planning Board recommends approval, the plan then would be considered by the Catawba County Board of Commissioners at its June 16 meeting. For details of the plan and the forum, contact the Catawba County Department of Planning, Parks and Development at 828-465-8380 or visit www.catawbacountync.gov/Planning. Gina Smith
