The Herald

ROCK HILL No one was hurt after three children started a fire that got out of hand Monday afternoon in the woods behind a Rock Hill neighborhood.

Two 11-year-old boys and a 9-year-old used paper and a lighter to ignite the fire near the 500 block of Dayton Road. But when flames began to spread, they ran home, according to a Rock Hill Police report.

The blaze got up to about 30-foot by 30-foot wide before Rock Hill Firefighters arrived and extinguished the fire.

A witness told police and firefighters he saw the three boys run from the woods. Officers contacted the parents of all three children, and the case was closed.

No damage was reported.
