2 hurt when vehicle hits SE Charlotte home

Two people were injured Monday morning when a vehicle slammed into a house in southeast Charlotte, police say. The incident took place on Bass Lane, in a neighborhood off Sardis Road North. According to neighbors, a woman got into a sports utility vehicle in the garage and shifted the vehicle into “drive” instead of “reverse.” The SUV went through the garage and into a nearby house.

Two people working inside the house were injured and were hospitalized with serious injuries, authorities said. A third person inside the house was not hurt. It is not clear whether the driver of the SUV was injured.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
