Water main repairs slow traffic on U.S. 74 in Monroe

Motorists traveling on U.S. 74 in Monroe are asked to be patient as crews work to repair a water leak Saturday afternoon, police said.

Workers with the City of Monroe Water Resources Department are on the scene, near Bivens Road, and repairs will likely be complete by early evening, officials said.

“Traffic is still detoured for the eastbound side into one lane on the westbound side and clearly marked with traffic cones,” said Lt. Joe Plyler in a media release.

Officers were helping direct traffic early Saturday afternoon and N.C. Department of Transportation personnel were on site as well. Drivers should use caution and expect delays in the area.
