Pedestrian dead in Chester crash

CHESTER A 34-year-old Chester man is dead after being struck by a vehicle on Sunday morning in Chester, according to Highway Patrol.

Frederick Alexander Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene and died of blunt force injuries sustained in the accident, said Chester County Coroner Terry Tinker.

According to Highway Patrol, the man was struck head-on by a SUV around 4 a.m. on Sunday morning on SC Highway 9 approximately two miles from Richburg.

The driver of the SUV car--which was traveling east on the road while the man was walking west--was not injured in the crash.
