    Davidson College's Sara Gilchrist Leffingwell stands with her classmates prior to Commencement on May 18, 2014. Davidson College graduated 456 students, representing 37 states and 20 foreign countries. When Leffingwell was seven, her grandfather gave her a Davidson cheerleading outfit for Christmas, and sent a photo of her wearing it to then-president Bobby Vagt. Vagt wrote back to Leffingwell to tell her that if she worked hard, there would be a place for her in the Class of 2014. She kept the letter, worked hard, and even submitted the president's letter with her application to Davidson.
