1 dead, 4 injured in crash near Salisbury

One person was killed and four others injured Sunday night in a two-vehicle crash northwest of Salisbury, the N.C. Highway Patrol says.

The crash was reported shortly after 9:30 p.m. on Woodleaf Road at U.S. 601. That is a short distance north of U.S. 70, near the Salisbury city limits.

Troopers said a car carrying two people and an SUV carrying five people slammed into each other. Troopers said they are still trying to determine exactly what caused the two vehicles to crash.

The name of the person who died has not been released.
