Akeem Bostick wins for Hickory Crawdads

KANNAPOLIS The visiting Crawdads gave Hickory starter Akeem Bostick a 5-run lead before he even took the mound, and kept piling on in a 10-6 victory Monday night to open a South Atlantic series against the Intimidators.

Bostick (2-2), from Florence, S.C., gave up five hits and a run in 5 innings, striking out three with no walks.

Evan Van Hoosier opened the first inning with a triple to right, scoring on Nick Vickerson’s double. Joe Jackson flied out to left, then Nomar Mazara singled to left. Ryan Cordell singled to left, bringing home Vickerson. Left-handed hitter Kevin Torres homered to right for the inning’s final three runs.
