Charlotte’s NBA franchise officially reclaimed the Hornets nickname on Tuesday, in a news conference at Time Warner Cable Arena. Here are five things to know:

•  Team statistics, records, and history going forward will include those accumulated during the 1988-2002 timeframe, effectively rewriting the franchise’s record book. The Charlotte Hornets made a donation to the Pelicans’ foundation early on in negotiations in return for the records.

•  The franchise will sell vintage jerseys from the early Hornets stars, like Muggsy Bogues, Dell Curry, Larry Johnson and Alonzo Mourning. They also have reached out to former players to broaden their alumni base.

•  Hugo, the team’s mascot, and the new uniforms will be similar, but will be “refreshed,” the team said. The new Hugo will be unveiled on June 5, the uniforms on June 19, and the court design on June 26.

•  The team said it has every intention of retiring Bobby Phills’ number. His No. 13 jersey was retired in 2000 by the original Charlotte Hornets, less than a month after he died in a car accident. It is currently retired by the New Orleans Pelicans. Luke Ridnour wore the number for the Bobcats last season.

•  Hornets is not the only name returning. The Lady Cats dance team will once again be the Honeybees.
