Shooting victim found on Randolph Road

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are investigating the shooting of a man who was found on Randolph Road on Thursday morning.

Police initially responded to the scene, on Randolph at Laurel Avenue, about 5:35 a.m. as a traffic collision with an injury. But when they arrived, they found a man who had been shot.

According to police reports, the shooting victim apparently had gotten out of a car when authorities arrived, and the car drove off. It is not clear if the man was shot at the scene, or if the shooting took place elsewhere.

Medic said the victim had potentially life-threatening injuries.
