Lincoln woman killed, authorities seek driver

A woman was struck and killed by a vehicle while walking along a Lincoln County highway Wednesday night, and authorities are asking the public’s help in finding the driver.

The woman, whose name has not been released, was walking along Summerow Road near Business U.S. 321 when she was hit, sometime between 8:30 and 8:45 p.m., the N.C. Highway Patrol said. That is about 4 miles north of Lincolnton.

Troopers said the vehicle that struck the woman might have damage to the right front headlight or the headlight lens.

Anyone with information in the case is asked to call the N.C. Highway Patrol at 828-466-5500.
