Gaston County teens charged with setting fire to vacant house

Police have filed felony charges against two teenagers suspected of burning a vacant house to the ground in Gastonia on Saturday night.

Bradley James Flowers, 17, of Gastonia and Caleb Ryan Simcox, 16 of Ranlo have been charged with burning an unoccupied building and first-degree burglary, said Sgt. Brent Roberts of the Gaston County Police.

Flowers and Simcox are accused of setting fire to the house at 325 Huffman Road shortly before 8 p.m. Saturday. No one was injured, and firefighters were able to keep the fire from spreading.

“It could have set the field on fire and then we would have had a big problem,” Roberts said.
