Plane crashes near Chester, SC

The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating a weekend plane crash near Chester, S.C. that reportedly killed two people.

The wreckage of the small AA1 aircraft was found Monday about 10 miles southwest of Chester Catawba Regional Airport, according to FAA spokeswoman Kathleen Bergen.

Several media outlets said two people died.

The plane left Wilmington on Friday and was headed to Clayton, GA. A “concerned party” contacted the FAA to report that the plane was missing, said Bergen in an email.

The National Transportation Safety Board will look into what caused the crash.
