2 suspects sought in Fort Mill-area armed robbery

York County authorities are looking for two men wanted in an armed robbery Sunday evening outside a store near Fort Mill.

The York County Sheriff’s Office said two women leaving work at a Dollar Tree store were robbed in the parking lot. The robbery was reported about 9:15 p.m. outside the store in the 800 block of Stockbridge Drive. That is off S.C. 160, near Gold Hill Road.

Deputies said the employees, ages 29 and 19, closed the store for the night and were walking to their vehicles. The 29-year-old woman had put the store’s night deposit in her purse, investigators said.

The women said they were approached in the parking lot by two men, and one suspect pointed a gun in the 29-year-old woman’s stomach and demanded her purse. The woman said she dropped her purse, and the two victims ran back toward the store. They reported hearing a gunshot about that time.

Sheriff’s deputies said they found a spent shell casing in the parking lot and wheel spin marks in the gravel lot of nearby Grace Presbyterian Church.

Deputies did not get a good description of the suspects.
