ESPN.com has ranked Davidson’s Bob McKillop as the 24th-best men’s basketball coach in the country.

“It’s impossible to talk to people within college coaching about McKillop and not come away with an earful of superlatives,” a story on the website says of McKillop, who is entering his 26th season at Davidson.

“But the most likely reason McKillop is on this list … is that he has managed to keep Davidson at the top of the Southern Conference, and in constant NCAA tournament contention in a league that gets one bid per year, in the post-(Stephen) Curry era.”

McKillop has a 472-292 record at Davidson, which moves to the Atlantic 10 next season.

ESPN.com is spending five weeks this off-season ranking the country’s top-50 coaches, with No. 23 coming Wednesday. Among the coaches ranked behind McKillop are Texas’ Rick Barnes (44th), Texas Tech’s Tubby Smith (39th) and West Virginia’s Bob Huggins (30th). David Scott
