CMPD asks for public’s help identifying homicide victim in southwest Charlotte

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are asking for the public’s help to identify a man who was fatally shot Friday night in southwest Charlotte.

The victim is a Hispanic male, approximately 16 to 20 years old, with a thin build and short haircut, police said Saturday.

The shooting occurred in the 6400 block of Old Pineville Road, just south of Archdale Drive, around 10:45 p.m. Friday, according to police. Medic took the victim to Carolinas Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

The victim was wearing a black tank top, red basketball shorts and black and white sneakers, officials said. He was also riding a black bicycle.

Members of CMPD’s Vice and Gang Unit are assisting with the investigation, but police have not said whether they believe the shooting was gang- or drug-related.

This is the second shooting death that the Steele Creek division of CMPD was called to last week. Bias Easley, 27, was shot to death Thursday evening less than two miles away on Farmhurst Drive, near where Nations Ford Road meets Interstate 77.

Anyone with information should call 704-432-8477 or Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
