The N.C. Department of Transportation has awarded about $21 million worth of repaving work in Mecklenburg, Cabarrus, Union and Anson counties.
It is among the $82.5 million worth of projects awarded statewide in recent weeks by the DOT. The contracts went to low bidders, officials said.
Work on these contracts can start July 1 and must be completed by next June.
• Mecklenburg: Ferebee Corp. and J.T. Russell and Sons Inc. will share $5.7 million worth of work.
Projects are 6.9 miles of N.C. 51, from Independence Boulevard to Palomino Drive in Mint Hill; 0.5 miles of West W.T. Harris Boulevard, between The Plaza and Grier Road; and 0.4 miles of N.C. 115, between Hucks Road and I-485.
• Union: Blythe Construction Inc. will handle $5.6 million of work. The contract includes 4 miles of N.C. 207, from J.D. Helms Road to Stack Road; and 1.3 miles of U.S. 601, from Jack in the Box to the end of U.S. 601’s curb-and-gutter section.
The contract also includes 10 sections of secondary roads to be milled, widened and improved.
• Cabarrus: Blythe Construction won a $3.4 million contract that includes repaving 3.1 miles of N.C. 200, from Mount Pleasant Road to the Stanly County line. The contract also includes work on 11 sections of secondary roads.
• Anson: Barnhill Contracting won a $3.2 million contract for work that includes 7.8 miles of N.C. 742, from south of Robinson Bridge Road to the South Carolina state line; and 2.7 miles of U.S. 52 from south of Diggs Road to north of the Morven city limits. Also in the contract is work on three sections of secondary roads.
