Providence Day sophomore Anna Cockrell set a state meet record of 42.68 in the 300-meter hurdles this spring.

First Team

100: Anna Cockrell, Providence Day, So.: Ran a personal-best, Observer-best 11.97 to win the NCISAA 3A state championship.

200: Courtney Blanden, Weddington, Sr.: Virginia Tech signee ran an Observer-best 24.62 at the Taco Bell Classic, also finished 3rd-place at 3A states.

400: Reneazia Collins, Monroe, Sr.: 2A state championship MVP won three individual state titles and one relay including an Observer-best 56.39 here, North Carolina A&T signee.

800: Malia Ellington, Community School of Davidson, Jr.: Won three individual 1A state championships, also ran an Observer-best 2:11.56 at Champions Tune-Up.

1600: Malia Ellington, Community School of Davidson, Jr.: Ran the state’s second-best time of 4:49.47 at the Penn Relays Carnival, also won 1A state title.

3200: Malia Ellington, Community School of Davidson, Jr.: Broke a 12-year old, Mecklenburg County record here, posting a 10:30.07 at the Raleigh Relays, also won 1A state title.

100 hurdles: Anna Cockrell, Providence Day, So.: Another NCISAA 3A state title, another personal-best at 13.73 (state meet record), which was also the 2nd-best time in the state this season.

300 hurdles: Anna Cockrell, Providence Day, So.: Ran the best time in the state when it mattered most with a 42.68, which was also a state meet record.

4x100relay: Northwestern (Jada Barnes, Taylor Kirkland, Brianna Lewis, Adia Simpkins, Aubriana Thompson, Nadia White): Trojans won S.C. AAAA state championship in Observer-best 47.32, also best time in the state all season.

4x200 relay: Monroe (Akeyra Hailey, Julice Crowder, Simone Gwehi, Reneazia Collins): Redhawks’ quartet repeated as 2A state champions in meet record time (1:41.65).

4x400 relay: Berry (Erica Williams, Alysa Dempsey, Maya Grier, Sydney Jenkins): Cardinals’ ran an Observer-best 3:58.34 to finish 6th-place at 4A state meet.

4x800 relay: Myers Park (Abby Watkins, Mary Prouty, Story Gourley, Meg Greene): Mustangs’ ran Observer-best 9:25.08 to finish as 4A West Regional runner-up, also finished 6th at 4A state meet.

Long Jump: Tylia Moses, Rock Hill, So.: Finished 4th at S.C. AAAA state meet with a personal-best, Observer best 18-8 jump.

Triple Jump: Tylia Moses, Rock Hill, So.: Jumped Observer-best, personal-best 38-2 in AAAA state qualifier, also state runner-up.

High Jump: Elizabeth Olesen, Hickory Ridge, Jr.: Jumped 5-9, the state’s 2nd-best of the season, to win 3A Midwest Regional, also finished 3rd at 3A state meet.

Pole Vault: Mariel Finger, North Gaston, Sr.: Jumped a personal-best 12-0 (2nd-best in state this season) to win the Taco Bell Classic, 3A West Regional champion, 3A state runner-up.

Shot Put: Alycia Springs, Mallard Creek, So.: 4A state champion made the state’s best throw of the season 45-8 to win 4A West Regional title.

Discus: Bryanna Hames, Myers Park, Sr.: Elon signee had the best throw (159-5) of the season by more than 17-feet on April 2 at Myers Park home meet, also 4A state champion.
