CLOVER A Clover father called police on his son Thursday, alleging the teenaged son assaulted him after an argument over a bag of candy, according to a York County Sheriffs Office report.
The father told deputies that he and his son were sitting on separate couches when he picked up a bag of candy from a table. The son told his father it was his candy, the report says the father told police, then tried to take the candy from his father. The father told deputies he was assaulted when his son grabbed his hands, the report states, and wanted to press charges against his son.
Deputies spoke to the son who told officers he grabbed the candy because he got it for himself and did not want his father to take any, the report states. The son denied touching or grabbing his father, and told police his father was upset about an earlier argument over Xbox electronic game controllers.
Deputies took pictures of the fathers hands, which police said had no visible injuries. Because the two statements differed, and there were no visible injuries, deputies decided no charges were warranted.
